History

St Monica’s is a systemic Catholic School, which operates under the guidelines and policies set down by the Catholic Education Commission of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.  The school was established in 1977 with classes from Kinder to Year 4 commencing at the beginning of the school year at St Francis Xavier’s High School in Florey. Students moved to the new school at the beginning of Term 3, 1977.

 

The school was officially opened on November 12 1977 by Senator Carrick, Minister of Education and blessed by Archbishop Thomas Cahill. The portable classrooms were blessed by Fr Cork on March 31 1982.

 

Renovations to the administration area were blessed by Archbishop Francis Carroll on November 17 1999. The Federal Government was represented by Senator Margaret Reid, ACT Senator. The current senior area of the school was renovated in 2007 and was officially opened and blessed on June 3 2008 by Archbishop Mark Coleridge.
