Yesterday I sent out on Compass the Term 4 Whole School Overview. A hard copy of this will come home with the eldest child in each family this afternoon. Hopefully, this one page list of events is a quick reference for you about what is happening each week at the school. Please know, new events may be added and exisiting events changed, so please keep an eye on the Compass alerts for the latest news and information.
A very warm welcome to all the new families who have joined St Monica’s this term. We wish the Cassidy, Greenwood, Harvey and Saunders families a very long and happy association with our amazing community.
We also welcome into the St Monica’s community baby Saskia, a little sister for Sebastian in Kinder White.
Students Leaving St Monica’s: If your child won’t be returning to St Monica’s next year, except for Year 6 students, please email the Front Office ASAP. We are contacted daily about enrolments and we wish to have our figures correct. In the coming weeks we will begin the process of developing class structures for 2026.
Staffing news: It is with a heavy heart, yet great excitement for their next chapter, I share that Maggie Lloyd and Ryan Matchett have been appointed to Assistant Principal roles at two of our Archdiocesan schools at the start of 2026.
Maggie‘s appointment is to St Bede’s Primary School in Red Hill and Ryan’s appointment is to St Bede’s Primary School in Braidwood. The two St Bede’s schools in our Archdiocese! I know you will join me in congratulating them both and wishing them well as they prepare for new adventures at their new schools.
Mrs Maria Nangle, Classroom Support Assistant and Mrs Bernadette Mannion, Student Welfare Officer will be finishing up at St Monica’s at the end of this year. We wish both Maria and Bernadette all the best for the next phase in their lives.
We have begun the recruitment process, for the roles of Assistant Principal, Primary Coordinator and Student Welfare Officer.

Religious Life of St Monica’s
This term our whole school is focusing on how the Holy Spirit inspires and energises our journey of growth.
Growth is all about becoming better, stronger, and more capable—whether that’s physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. It might look like learning a new skill, deepening understanding, or simply becoming more confident in who we are.
As we move through this final term, we are especially noticing the incredible growth your children have shown throughout the year. It’s a joy to witness their development in so many ways.
What growth have you seen in your child this year?
Whole School Prayer
Tomorrow 2 Maroon will lead our first Whole School Prayer on Opening our Hearts to the Holy Spirit using the Footstep of Growth with a focus on ourselves. You are warmly invited to join our community at St Monica’s Church at 9.10am.
October the Month of the Holy Rosary
October is a wonderful and special month in our Catholic calendar because it is dedicated to our Heavenly Mother, Mary, the Mother of Jesus! We call October the Month of the Holy Rosary . The Rosary is a beautiful prayer that uses beads to help us remember the most important moments in the lives of Jesus and Mary. Mary is a great example for all of us because she always showed incredible faith and said a brave "Yes" to God's plan, saying, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word" 1 2. This month, we are encouraged by Pope Leo XIV to pray the Rosary every day, especially for peace in our world. You can pray a decade of the Rosary, asking Mary to help you be a peaceful and faithful child of God. Through Mary, Queen of Peace, we are drawn closer to her Son, Jesus.
Youth Ministry
This term Katie Brasnett remains with us in the role of Youth Minister while Ethan Mass is on leave. Katie, a former student of St Monica’s Primary School, is also a Youth Minister in our parish. She brings with her a passion for the formation of young people and a deep understanding of our community. Katie has been leading the parish youth group and altar servers club and is a wonderful asset to our school.

Dignity Donation Station
Did you know you can donate to our dignity donation station all year round? One additional item added to your shopping each week is a small action that can have a significant impact. Sending your donations in with your child to add to our donation station is a fantastic way to show your child that charity can be all year round.
