RE News - Meaghan Younger

RE Curriculum

Focus on Year Three

Students in Year 3 are asking a big question this term in Religious Education, ‘Who is Jesus?’ What a great conversation that would make at home! Who is Jesus for you? How do you come to know Jesus?

In Year 3 the students will be examining Scripture to understand more about Jesus by learning about the cultural and historical context of the man, Jesus. They will also learn about one name given to Jesus, Messiah, and what that special name has meant for the Jewish people as well as what it means for us as Christians today.

Who is Jesus to you?

Reconciliation Week

Reconciliation.png
This week is Reconciliation Week. During Reconciliation Week we focus on the important contributions made by our Indigenous Peoples to the nation we are today. These contributions include their ancient culture’s special relationship with country as well as those made by key historical figures, often overlooked until recently, and current Indigenous leaders and quiet achievers doing amazing things. We keep in our prayers all Australians as we walk together the journey of real Reconciliation.
Whole School Prayer Time - Term Two Value Focus – Resilience

Next Friday, 9 June,  Year 3 Blue will lead the whole school in prayer, focusing on our Term Two value, Resilience. Resilience helps us every day to bounce back and deal with challenges in life. It incorporates, but is not limited to, the growth mindset learned about at school. It is about helping our children develop strategies to deal with little disappointments in life to help build the mental ‘muscles’ that helps us bounce back when life presents us with bigger challenges. It is about us as adults modelling these behaviours as well. You’re invited to join the whole school in praying up in St Monica’s Church from 9.10am onwards.

Eucharist Retreat

Students in Year 4 will engage in a retreat next Thursday, 8 June, focusing on Eucharist. This retreat particularly supports those Year 4 students about to receive Eucharist in their First Holy Communion but also aims to develop all students’ understanding of what Eucharist is and how we live as Eucharistic people. The retreat will be in school hours from 9.15am – 1.00pm. Students are invited to wear free clothes for this special day and will be provided with morning tea and a pizza lunch.
